While playing a playlist, click Media Library, and then find an item that you want to temporarily add to the playlist.
Right-click the item, and then click Queue-It-Up.

Press SHIFT and double-click the item.
The item is added to the end of the playlist and remains in the playlist until you play another item or playlist.
Notes
You can temporarily add whole albums, artist lists, and even other playlists to a playlist.
The playlist to which you add items by using the Queue-It-Up command becomes a temporary playlist until you save it. To view the temporary playlist, click the NowPlaying category in Media Library. Items are added to the end of the playlist.
You can also temporarily add items to a playlist by dragging digital media files from My Computer or the desktop to the Playlist pane in Now Playing. You can drag files to the position in which you want them to play in the playlist. The name of the playlist is displayed in the Quick Access box area with "(modified)" after it.
Only Windows Media Audio and MP3 files can be queued for playback.
